TALE Lab Students Present at UConn Conference

Two TALE Lab students presented at an international conference, sharing research on storytelling, memory, and health! Great job to Maris and Emily!

March 5, 2026

We’re excited to recognize two TALE Lab students who recently presented their research at the 2026 International Conference on Life Story Innovations and Practice (ICLIP) at the University of Connecticut. This online conference brings together scholars and practitioners interested in the role of narrative and life stories in shaping health, identity, and well-being, creating a space for sharing new ideas and interdisciplinary collaboration.

At the conference, our students shared work examining how autobiographical memory and personal storytelling can serve as meaningful tools for communication, particularly in healthcare settings. Their presentation, "Using Generative AI to Create Personal Memory Scripts about Health Information", explored how drawing on lived experiences can help people better understand and connect with important health information, highlighting the value of narrative in fostering empathy and clarity.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work and their ability to represent the TALE Lab at UCSB on a broader academic stage. Their contributions reflect the lab’s ongoing commitment to research at the intersection of memory, narrative, and well-being.

Congratulations to both presenters—we’re thrilled to see your work gaining visibility and making an impact!
